In 1968, CEO Allan Lambert took a visionary lead and established a unique direction for TD by focusing on contemporary Canadian art.
The impetus to acquire a collection of contemporary art was the building of the Toronto-Dominion Centre in 1967.
The TD Centre, designed by Mies van der Rohe, provided TD with an exciting and modern building, ideally suited to contemporary art and a modern North American identity.
Today through The Ready Commitment, TD's corporate citizenship platform, TD Art is committed to supporting the amplification of contemporary, under-represented and diverse voices in arts and culture. With the acquisition of each new piece, the aim is to help create a more inclusive tomorrow by connecting people through their experiences with the arts and by amplifying all voices.
The TD Art team is committed to collecting artwork that is reflective of all voices and timely perspectives, while also helping to break down barriers emerging artists are facing to the arts sector.
