First Impressions - Edition VFO @ Helvetia Art Foyer
The exhibition examines the role of graphic prints in contemporary art - in dialogue with painting, sculpture and photography.
The focus is on translation processes that arise when artists transfer motifs, forms and concepts between different media. Questions about the transformation of materiality, the significance of reproduction and the interaction between original and copy are negotiated. The juxtaposition of different artistic approaches shows how printmaking is used today as an independent form of expression, as an instrument of mediation or as a field of experimentation between techniques.
