"I Speak, Knowing It's Not about Speaking",* the first exhibition in the 2nd edition of the COMISART programme, is a project that explores forms of linguistic agency activated through materiality and emotions. It stems from a series of works from the "la Caixa" Collection of Contemporary Art and the MACBA Collection that reflect on the use of language or employ meaningful and original language to communicate situations fashioned out of personal, historical, cultural, linguistic and social codes.
Curated by Juan Canela, it includes works by Abraham Cruzvillegas, Dora García, Asier Mendizabal, Matt Mullican and Jonathan Monk from the "la Caixa" Collection of Contemporary Art; and features pieces by Isidoro Valcárcel Medina, Falke Pisano, Eduardo Chillida, Susana Solano, Felix Gonzalez-Torres and Ryan Gander from the MACBA Collection.
* "I Speak, Knowing It's Not about Speaking" is taken from a poem by Alejandra Pizarnik.
